A desiccant dehumidifier or “absorption” dehumidifiers as they are sometimes called, have some clear advantages and disadvantages over conventional compressor dehumidifiers.
Compressor units seem on paper to take out more water and use less power but that is not the whole story. To see why desiccant dehumidifiers can extract more water than compressor units see HERE
All dehumidifiers work up to 35°C and will stop at 5°C to prevent frost damage. Industrial grade desiccant units will work down to -20°C but have other key advantage over other units designed for domestic use
